Warm thanks to all of those who attended the illustrated talk about Antique Bottles. It was the third in a series of talks entitled Artefacts in which we take a closer look at the design and history of objects around us. Antique bottles, or ‘Dutch Bottles’ as we often call them, can be found in many Guyanese households. They are also an intriguing lens through which to view the many phases of our history as a colony and satellite of a succession of European powers. The subject is vast. The talk concentrated on antique English and Dutch bottles and some of the insights that they afford.
A light tea was served before the talk.
