Activity: Illustrated talk with tea served
Topic: History & Design
Host: Moray House Trust
Date: Tuesday 25th April 2023
Time: 4 PM Guyana
‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure’, as the saying goes. Moray House Trust was given access to a substantial private collection of furniture that has been rescued, bartered or (occasionally) bought, ranging from antique chairs and sewing machines to washstands and hat racks. This talk ranged over the collection identifying key pieces as starting points for our usual focus on provenance and design. It showed how, with a little bit of care and thought, many discarded items can be repurposed or refurbished.
Moray House Trust was pleased to host an illustrated talk entitled Collectibles: found treasures. It was the fifth in a series of talks entitled Artefacts in which we take a closer look at the design and history of objects around us.
A light tea was served before the talk.
