Martin Carter (1927-1997) is perhaps best remembered for his poetry. He also left a substantial body of writing; speeches, editorials in Thunder, musings in the New World Quarterly and jottings in diaries. This recital includes a selection of prose (from the Kyk-over-al 2000 issue) to show the range of Carter’s interests and thinking. Dr Gemma Robinson will discuss some of the poems from The When Time including the perennial favourite, A Mouth is Always Muzzled. Stanley Greaves will perform a few of his favourite Carter poems. Several of the readings are performed by members of Martin Carter’s family.

Moray House Trust was launched on 13th December 2011 (the poet’s death anniversary) with a recital of Martin’s poems.
