Transparency Institute Guyana Inc (TIGI) a non-governmental organisation and local contact of Transparency International. TIGI’s mission is to promote accountability and transparency and to eradicate corruption.

The Institute hosted a workshop, as captioned, at Moray House on April 20, 2012.

The guest speakers were, in order of appearance-

  • Ms Simona Broomes- President of the Guyana Women Miners Association. Her presentation was on the subject of “A case for increased transparency and accountability in the Mining Sector- the experience of women miners”
  • Mr. Deodat Sharma – Auditor General(Ag). He spoke on the subject of “Transparency and Accountability in the Public Sector”.
  • Mr. David Devine- Canadian High Commissioner. His was the feature presentation on “Citizen’s Charters- The Canadian Experience”
  • Ms Sandra Jones- “Understanding Citizen’s Charters” an interactive session.

The event was funded by a grant from the Canadian High Commission.
